Healing from the Inside Out Homeopathy is based on the premise that all beings have an innate ability to heal themselves. Homeopathy supports this natural tendency. It views symptoms of disease as an expression of a central imbalance within the person. It uses carefully selected and specially prepared natural substances, called remedies, to stimulate this self-healing response and restore balance. As this happens, symptoms of disease can disappear or lessen considerably. True healing happens from the inside out. |
|
Treat the Person Homeopathy offers a truly holistic and individualized approach to healing. The body, mind and emotions are viewed as being intimately connected. Thus, your whole state of being is taken into consideration, regardless of the nature of your main health concern. Homeopathy does not have a remedy for e.g. arthritis and another for autism and another for chronic sinus infections. |

Like Cures Like At the heart of homeopathy is the ancient Law of Similars, often referred to as "Like Cures Like". This law states that any substance which can cause symptoms in a healthy person can cure those same symptoms in a sick person. Take the simple example of a healthy man who drinks several cups of coffee in the evening. He will likely develop a racing, overactive mind and be unable to fall sleep. But when a different man visits a homeopath bothered by chronic insomnia, kept awake by racing thoughts (which are NOT caused by an over-indulgence in coffee), he would likely be helped by Coffea cruda, homeopathically prepared coffee. Homeopathy gets its name from the Greek homeo (similar) and pathos (suffering). |
|
An Individualized Approach Central to homeopathy is it’s recognition that everyone experiences their condition uniquely. So what this means is that not everyone suffering from insomnia will be helped by Coffea cruda. Say a second person visits a homeopath complaining of insomnia. But instead of being kept awake by racing thoughts, she is worried about her sick mother for whom she has been caring. She also suffers tremendously from dizziness and motion sickness. The homeopath also observes that she answers questions very, very slowly. This set of symptoms would indicate a different remedy. With successful treatment, not only should she start sleeping better, but her other problems should improve as well. |

The Origins of Homeopathy Based on principles dating as far back as Hippocrates, homeopathy was developed by the German physician, Samuel Hahnemann in the late eighteenth century. Hahnemann was so disillusioned with the medical methods of his time that he stopped practicing medicine to search for a system of healing that could be both effective and gentle. After years of research and experimenting on himself and other healthy people, he was successful! |

Homeopathic Remedies Homeopathic remedies are made of a single substance from e.g. mineral, plant or animal sources. They are prepared in homeopathic pharmacies by a method that involves extensive dilution and shaking of the substance. This process, called potentization, is what gives remedies their unique deep healing action as well as their non-toxic properties. When administered properly, the small doses used in homeopathy make it a safe and effective treatment choice for people of all ages. Homeopathic remedies are approved by the FDA. |
